Bikers 4 Macmillan are a group dedicated to raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support through the common ground of an interest in Motorcycling.
The group was formed in 2009 by the organisers of the very successful 'Over 40s Ride' which raised over £20k in 2008. The event involved 9 bikers all aged over 40, visiting every county in England (43) in 48 travelling hours at an average of over 40mph.
In the summer of 2009 we held the first 'Sunset to Sunrise Tour' with Motorcyclists leaving South Stack light house at Holyhead at sunset and riding through the night to get to Skegness for Sunrise. The event was held on the shortest night of the year (21st June), was a great success and raised £274.40 - bearing in mind this was a small event advertised only for local bikers we did quite well.
The event has become an annual event and, as word spreads and numbers grow, has become the flagship event for bikers4macmillan, gaining donations through both personal and commercial sponsorship. In 2011 we raised over £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and last year we were very proud to be invited to the Head offices of Macmillan Cancer Support in London to present a cheque for £21,000.
